Yesterday, I posted a note about Salmon Arm-Shuswap MLA David Williams publishing western separatist propaganda on his social media promoting a concept called the “Republic of Western Canada under the protection of the United States.”
I am not surprised that BC Conservative MLA’s would think it is okay to promote the destruction of Canada, their leader John Rustad repeatedly disrespected the Legislative Assembly, regularly ignoring the rules and the authority of the Speaker.
As a former MLA, and member of the BC Green Caucus, we made several complaints directly to Rustad, and to the Speaker’s Office, for displaying partisan branding in the legislative chamber, and using the facilities to hold partisan announcements.
MLA’s who respect the institution, the rules, and the Speaker, just don’t ever use the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia branding or facilities to do partisan business. To do otherwise, is to disrespect the institution.
That is exactly what North Island MLA Anna Kindy did when she released an undated endorsement of Conservative candidate Aaron Gunn on her Official Opposition letterhead, posting it also on the Facebook page of her Constituency Office. The statement is signed by several North Island elected leaders including Courtenay-Comox MLA Brennan Day.
In my critique of MLA Williams’ thoughtlessness and carelessness, I called Rustad’s show a circus. It looks like MLA Kindy was eager to be the next sideshow.
